Indem Sandback den physischen Widerstand des Holzes in kontrollierte, minimale Form transformiert, überträgt er sein zentrales Anliegen: die Linie als raumstiftendes, nicht-illusionistisches Element in die zweidimensionale Fläche. Der Holzschnitt wird so zum Medium einer konzeptuellen Reflexion über Präsenz, Wahrnehmung und das Verhältnis von Idee und Material.
