Geometrische Abstraktion - Op Art – Die Werke von Max Coor verbinden klassische Prinzipien der Wahrnehmungskunst mit zeitgenössischen Materialien und Techniken. Inspiriert von der Konkreten Kunst, der Op Art und der Kinetischen Kunst, fordern sie die Wahrnehmung der Betrachtenden immer wieder aufs Neue heraus. In der Tradition von Max Bill, der Konkrete Kunst als eine Kunst rationaler Prinzipien verstand, beruhen Coors Arbeiten auf klaren geometrischen Strukturen, mathematisch fundierten Ordnungen und systematischer Farbgestaltung. Durch die Verwendung von Materialien wie Holz und Aluminium sowie deren präzise Anordnung in Form von Stäben, Gittern oder spiegelnden Flächen entstehen komplexe geometrische Muster, deren Farben und Formen durch Kontrast, Kontext und räumliche Verschränkung eine scheinbare Bewegung erzeugen. Diese visuellen Schwingungen, die durch die exakte Abstimmung von Farbe, Form und Fläche entstehen, erinnern in ihrer Dynamik und räumlichen Wirkung an die Arbeiten von Victor Vasarely, gehen jedoch über rein optische Phänomene hinaus: Coor gelingt es, eine sinnliche Räumlichkeit zu erzeugen, die zwischen Fläche und Raum oszilliert und dabei die Grenzen zwischen Bild und Objekt immer wieder neu verhandelt. - Der beeindruckende, an Moirée erinnernde und Bewegung suggerierende Effekt, der sich bei der Betrachtung der uns vorliegenden Arbeit einstellt, wird von Max Coor in Form von unterschiedlich eingefärbten, in zwei Ebenen übereinander montierten Holzstäben erzielt.

Splendid composition in bright colours. - Max Coor's works combine classical principles of perceptual art with contemporary materials and techniques. Inspired by Concrete Art, Op Art and Kinetic Art, they constantly challenge the viewer's perception anew. In the tradition of Max Bill, who understood Concrete Art as an art of rational principles, Coor's works are based on clear geometric structures, mathematically founded orders and systematic colour design. The use of materials such as wood and aluminium and their precise arrangement in the form of rods, grids or reflective surfaces creates complex geometric patterns whose colours and shapes generate an apparent movement through contrast, context and spatial interweaving. These visual oscillations, which are created through the precise coordination of colour, form and surface, are reminiscent of the works of Victor Vasarely in their dynamism and spatial effect, but go beyond purely optical phenomena: Coor succeeds in creating a sensual spatiality that oscillates between surface and space, constantly renegotiating the boundaries between image and object. - The impressive effect, reminiscent of moiré and suggestive of movement, which emerges when looking at the work before us, is achieved by Max Coor in the form of differently coloured wooden sticks mounted on top of each other in two layers.
