o.T. (Black). 1963. Serigraphie auf Velin. 32,8 x 33 cm. Verso signiert und datiert. - Punktuelle, leichte Griffspur, unten links sehr leichte Knickspur, obere linke Ecke mit minimalem Papierverlust, verso im äußersten Oberrand minimal gegilbt, insgesamt sehr gut. Prachtvoller, satter und tiefschwarzer Druck der nahezu formatfüllenden Komposition.

Britische Moderne – Turnbulls ungehaltenes Interesse und stetes Experimentieren mit Farbe und Oberflächen, das insbesondere in seinem skulpturalen Werk Ausdruck findet, schlägt sich ebenso in seinem graphischen Schaffen nieder. Auf eine radikale Form vereinfacht, ist das flächig gesetzte Schwarz unseres Blattes stellenweise leicht durchbrochen. Es öffnet sich als mehrschichtig aufgetragener Farbraum und suggeriert eine Oberflächenbehandlung, die der einer skulpturalen Patina gleicht.

British Post War – Silk-screen on wove paper. Signed and dated on the verso. - Isolated, slight handling tracem very slight crease mark on lower left, minimal loss of paper on in upper left corner, on the verso minimally yellower in outermost upper margin, all in all very good. Splendid, rich and deep-black impression of the almost format-filling depiction. - Turnbull's unrestrained interest and constant experimentation with color and surfaces, which finds expression in his sculptural work in particular, is also reflected in his graphic work. Simplified to a radical form, the flat black of our work is sporaically slightly broken up. It opens as a multi-layered color space and suggests a surface treatment that reminds of a sculptural patina.
