In der Zeit unmittelbar nach der politischen und gesellschaftlichen Umbruchphase der deutschen Wiedervereinigung setzt sich Rauch mit Fragen von Kommunikation, Identität und Vermittlung auseinander. Die Figur des "Boten" verdichtet diese Themen symbolisch und fungiert zugleich als Mittler, Träger und Metapher für das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen individueller Erfahrung und kollektiver Geschichte.

Superb, rich black impression with margins. - One of 125 copies. - Published as an annual gift by the Friends of the Leipzig Gallery for Contemporary Art, Leipzig 1993 (stamped on the reverse). The work 'Bote' (Messenger) is one of Neo Rauch's early prints and documents a transitional phase in his work between his academic training and the development of his characteristic painterly style. In the period immediately following the political and social upheaval of German reunification, Rauch explored topics such as communication, identity, and mediation. The figure of the 'messenger' symbolically expresses these aspects and simultaneously functions as a mediator, carrier, and metaphor for the tension between individual experience and collective history.
