Signiert, datiert und römisch nummeriert. - Mit den zwei dazugehörigen, textlichen Beiblättern. - Papier druckbedingt in Rändern leicht gewellt, verso in oberer rechter Ecke wenige punktuelle Anschmutzungen und an einer Stelle Papier leicht oberflächlich berieben, insgesamt sehr gut und ausgesprochen schön. Prachtvoller, kräftiger Druck der rhythmischen Nagelreihung mit schmalem Rand.

Dorothea van der Koelen, Mainz/Edouard Weiss, Paris. - Uecker, dessen Name unzertrennlich mit Nägeln verbunden ist, zieht innerhalb seines graphischen Werks den metallenen Gegenstand als elementares Gestaltungselement heran. Die Druckstöcke mit Nägeln versehen, zieht er eine dichte, engmaschige Struktur erhabener Punkte in bewegtem Muster. Einer Streuung gleich, prägen sich die Nagelköpfe zu Blatt und bilden ein dynamisches Netz ab, das zur taktilen Betrachtung einlädt. Unterschiedlich ausgerichtet gesetzt, entsteht ein spannungsreiches Licht-Schatten-Spiel, das das Punktenetz in visuelle Bewegung versetzt und für Ueckers unermüdliche Erforschung von Licht und Bewegung in seinem gesamten künstlerischen Schaffen steht. 2002 gestaltet er das beeindruckende Mappenwerk "Graphein", in dem 12 Prägungen verschiedenen frühgeschichtlichen Typographien gegenübergestellt sind. Im vorliegenden Blatt zur Shang-Dynastie, einer der frühesten Zivilisationen Chinas (1716-1112 v. Chr.), schreibt Uecker mit seinen Nägeln, korrespondierend und den archaischen Schriftzeichen antwortend. - Markante, charakteristische Arbeit des kürzlich verstorbenen, wohl prominentesten Vertreters des ZERO.

He covers the printing blocks with nails, creating a dense, tightly woven structure of raised dots in a dynamic pattern. Like a scattering, the nail heads are imprinted on the sheet, forming a dynamic network that invites to tactile observation. Set in different orientations, an interplay of light and shadow is created, setting the network of dots in visual motion and representing Uecker's tireless exploration of light and movement throughout his artistic oeuvre. In 2002, he creates the impressive portfolio 'Graphein', in which 12 embossings are juxtaposed to various early historical typographies. In our work on the Shang dynasty, one of China's earliest civilisations, Uecker writes with his nails, corresponding and responding to the archaic letters. - A striking, characteristic work by the recently deceased, arguably most prominent representative of ZERO.
