o.T. (Nagelbündel). 1997. Skulptur aus Nägeln und fester Bindschnur auf runder Holzplatte. 12 x 32 x 30 cm. Auf der Platte signiert und datiert, auf der Standfläche zusätzlich signiert und datiert sowie mit Widmung des Künstlers. - Mit nur leichter Oberflächenanstaubung. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

ZERO – Provenienz: Direkt vom Künstler erhalten, seitdem in Privatbesitz. - Der Nagel, das signifikanteste Motiv im Oeuvre Günther Ueckers, stellte für ihn von Beginn an kein Symbol der Zerstörung, sondern ein verbindendes Medium dar. Uecker verstand ihn stets als Element, das Materie und Idee, Stoff und Geist, Kunst und Welt miteinander verknüpfte. Durch das Einschlagen und Verdichten der Nägel entsteht jene charakteristische Spannung zwischen destruktivem Eingriff und schöpferischem Gestus, die das gesamte Werk des Künstlers durchzieht. Seit seinen Studienjahren an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie bei Otto Pankok begleitet der Nagel Uecker als zentrales Ausdrucksmittel. Früh experimentierte er mit der Verfremdung von Alltagsgegenständen, die er durch das flächige Überziehen mit Nägeln ihrer Funktion enthob und in rhythmisierte, reliefartige Oberflächen verwandelte. Der scheinbar aggressive Akt des Behauens wird dabei durch die harmonische, oft organisch anmutende Ordnung der Nägel ästhetisch aufgehoben. In den 1990er Jahren vertiefte Uecker seine Auseinandersetzung mit der materiellen und geistigen Verdichtung des Nagelmotivs. Viele Werke dieser Zeit zeugen von einer Hinwendung zur inneliegenden Kraft des Materials und zur gebündelten Energie des Ausdrucks. In der vorliegenden Skulptur erscheint der Nagel in gebändigter Form: nicht als durchdringender Körper, sondern als komprimiertes Bündel. Diese Verdichtung transformiert das Motiv, der Nagel wird zum Symbol konzentrierter Energie, zur Metapher der Sammlung und der stillen Kraft. So führt die Arbeit exemplarisch Ueckers fortwährendes Ringen um die Balance zwischen Zerstörung und Schöpfung in eine neue, konzentrierte Form über.

Signed and dated on the base, additionally signed and dated underneath and with dedication by the artist. - With only slight surface dusting. Overall in very well preserved condition. - Provenance: Received directly from the artist, since then in private collection. - The nail, the most significant motif in Günther Uecker's oeuvre, has never symbolized destruction for him. From the very beginning, it served as a connecting medium. By driving in and compressing the nails, he creates a distinctive tension between destructive action and creative gesture, a tension that permeates his entire body of work. Since his student years at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art under Otto Pankok, the nail has been central to Uecker's expressive vocabulary. Early experiments involved transforming everyday objects: by covering them entirely with nails, he stripped them of their practical function and turned them into rhythmically structured, relief-like surfaces. The seemingly aggressive act of piercing is counterbalanced aesthetically by the harmonious, often organically appearing arrangement of the nails. In the 1990s, Uecker intensified his exploration of the nail motif's material and conceptual density. Works from this period reveal a focus on the inherent strength of the material and the concentrated energy of expression. In the present sculpture, the nail appears in a controlled form, not as a penetrating body, but as a compressed bundle. This condensation transforms the motif: the nail becomes a symbol of concentrated energy, a metaphor for accumulation and quiet force. Through this work, Uecker's ongoing pursuit of balance between destruction and creation is expressed in a new, concentrated form.
