Lot 216 Klaus Schwabe. Die Prüfung. Um 1980. …
Die Prüfung. Um 1980. Bronzerelief mit bräunlicher Patina. 20 x 21 x 5 cm. Insgesamt gut. Expressiv aus der Fläche herausmodelliertes Relief.
Ostdeutsche Kunst – Provenienz: Direkt vom Künstler erhalten, seitdem Privatsammlung, Berlin.
East German Art – Bronze relief with brownish patina. With monogram stamp. - Slightly dusty in the recesses, with occasional faint rubbing and slight oxidation. Overall in good condition. Expressively modelled relief. - Provenance: Private collection, Berlin. After training as a ceramic sculptor and studying at the Leipzig College of Applied Arts, Schwabe studied at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1960 to 1965, where his teachers included Walter Arnold, Gerd Jaeger, Hans Steger and Herbert Naumann. His work combines figurative sculpture with an awareness of space, material and community, leading him to focus particularly on public spaces. Formally, he moved between monumentality and intimate figuration, between commissioned work and free art, and is thus considered a significant representative of his generation.
