Lot 177 Karl Fred Dahmen. o.T. (Objektkasten). 1965. …
o.T. (Objektkasten). 1965. Collage in Mischtechnik mit Holz, Pappe, Pappmaché, Metall, tls. bemalt in Holz-Objektkasten unter Glas. 20 x 18,8 x 5 cm. Signiert. - Augenscheinlich sehr gut erhalten. Ausdrucksvolle Arbeit in spannungsgeladener Materialzusammensetzung.
Informel – Mixed media collage with wood, cardboard, papier-mâché, metal, partially painted, in wooden box under glass. Signed. Additionally signed, dated and marked with directional arrow on the reverse. - Apparently in very well-preserved condition. Expressive work composed of a tension-filled combination of materials. - The work is registered by Thomas Weber, Karl Fred Dahmen Archive, Cologne. - From the mid-1960s onwards, Karl Fred Dahmen increasingly focused on integrating ordinary materials and objects into his artistic practice. Building on his earlier montage paintings, he developed what he called "object boxes," which became a central form of expression in his late work. In these assemblage-like pieces, he arranged objects he had found, such as broken electronic parts, empty egg cartons, or rusty pieces of metal, in wooden boxes, lending them a new, often ambiguous symbolism. In terms of both content and form, Dahmen's aim with these works-in the spirit of the "Nouveaux Réalistes"-was to reconnect the artwork with reality, with the fragmentary and the transitory coming to the fore as aesthetic and conceptual principles.
