Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Auf dem uns vorliegenden Blatt verbindet Andrew Gilbert koloniale Machtverhältnisse mit erotischen Projektionen und entlarvt die kulturellen Zuschreibungen, die dem Blick auf das "Fremde" eingeschrieben sind. Die Arbeit konfrontiert den Betrachter mit der Verschränkung von Sexualisierung und ethnografischer Maskerade, wobei die kulturelle Differenz zugleich fetischisiert und entleert erscheint. Der militarisierte Kontext verweist auf asymmetrische Machtstrukturen, in denen Begehrensproduktion und Dominanz untrennbar miteinander verknüpft sind.

Sheet slightly wavy due to the technique. Overall very good, the colour fresh and intense. - In Zulu Erotic Poetry, Andrew Gilbert combines colonial power relations with erotic projections and exposes the cultural attributions that are inscribed in the view of the "foreign". The work confronts the viewer with the entanglement of sexualisation and ethnographic masquerade, whereby cultural difference appears simultaneously fetishised and emptied. The militarised context refers to asymmetrical power structures in which the production of desire and dominance are inextricably linked.
