Sammlung von 12 Original-Illustrationsentwürfen verschiedener Künstler für die Zeitschrift "Jugend". Frühes 20. Jh. Verschiedene Techniken: überwiegend Federzeichnungen, teils koloriert. Blattmaße von ca. 19 x 15 cm bis 32 x 25 cm. Je signiert bzw. monogrammiert. Überwiegend auf Unterlage und unter Passepartout montiert.

Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Enthält Arbeiten von Alexander Sandor von Kubinyi (2), Julius von Szeremley, Josef Nikolaus Geis (4), Arpad Schmidhammer (?, monogrammiert "AP"), Paula Cäcilie Schmidt-Goy, Friedrich Heubner (2) und Franz Lauterer. - Die von 1896 bis 1940 erschienene "Jugend - Münchner illustrierte Wochenschrift für Kunst und Leben" war namensgebend für die Kunstrichtung des Jugendstils. Doch auch andere Stilrichtungen wie beispielsweise der Impressionismus oder das Art Déco hatten einen Einfluss auf das Erscheinungsbild des Blattes. Geprägt waren die Illustrationen, wie es die vorliegende Sammlung zeigt, von einem satirischen und kulturkritischen Ton. - Teils atelierspurig sowie mit Gebrauchsspuren und Anschmutzungen. Einige Bll. mit hs. Annotationen. Passepartouts angeschmutzt und teils mit Defekten. Interessante Sammlung in künstlerischer wie historischer Hinsicht.

The magazine "Jugend" (Munich Illustrated Weekly for Art and Life) appeared from 1896 to 1940. As the present collection shows, the illustrations were characterised by a satirical and culturally critical tone. - Partly atelier-marked as well as with traces of use and soiling. Some with annotations in manuscript. Passepartouts soiled and partly with defects. Interesting collection from an artistic as well as historical point of view.
