RTit. und Datierung auf mauvefarben intarsiertem Hintergrund, reich ornamentierter Deckel- und Rückenvergoldung, die Vorderdecke unter Verwendung von drei mauvefarben intarsierten Quadraten, zudem vergoldeten Innenkantenfileten, Kopfgoldschnitt und Lesezeichenband (Rücken und Gelenke teils fachkundig restauriert, etwas berieben und mit leichten Kratzspuren). IV. - Buchkünstlerisch werthaltige Ausgabe von Heinrich Heines fragmentarischer Erzählung aus dem Jahr 1824, mit den expressionistischen Holzschnitten samt dreier illustrierter Initialen von Budko, hier in kräftigen, in den Schwärzen intensiven Abzügen. - Den eleganten Satz unter Beibehaltung eines schlanken, breitstegigen Spiegels und den satten Druck auf voluminösem, breitrandigem Zanders-Bütten (mit Wz. Einhorn) besorgte Otto von Holten, Berlin. - Vorsätze leicht leimschattig an den Rändern, vereinzelt leicht stockfleckig, sonst wohlerhaltenes, zweiseitig unbeschnittenes Exemplar des äußerst sammelwürdigen Rarums, der schmucke, im Fußsteg des hinteren Spiegels signierte Handeinband von Hübel & Denck durch den Schuber gut geschützt.

Bound in a dark brown, smoothed original publisher's ecrasé leather binding (signed 'Euphorion Einband Hübel & Denck, Leipzig') over five decorative bands with gilt embossed title and dating on spine, partly on a mauve inlaid background, richly ornamented gilt cover and spine, the front cover with three mauve inlaid squares, gilt fillets at the inner margins, gilt top edge and bookmark ribbon (spine and joints partly expertly restored, somewhat rubbed and with light scratches). In a new paper slipcase. - An artistically valuable edition of Heinrich Heine's fragmentary tale from 1824, with expressionist wood-cuts by Budko including three illustrated initials, here in bold impressions of great intensity in the blacks. - Otto von Holten, Berlin, was responsible for the elegant typesetting and rich impression on voluminous, wide-margined Zanders laid paper (with the watermark unicorn). - Endpapers with slight shelf-wear at margins, occasional light foxing, otherwise a well-preserved copy with deckle-edges at two margins of this highly collectible rarity, the exclusive hand binding by Hübel & Denck gilt signed at bottom of the rear paste-down and well protected by the slipcase.
