Paris, La Pléiade, Schiffrin (Coulouma), 1926. 2 Bl. w., 128 (4) S. Gr.-8°. Meisterhafter Halb-Maroquin (sign. W. H. Smith and Son) mit goldgepr. RTit. u. Deckelgold- u. Blindpräg., die Decken bezogen mit mehrfarb. Schneckenmarmorpapier und mit Kopfgoldschnitt (an den Ecken und Kanten gering berieben).

St John Hornby (Ashedene Press. - Monod 7975 - Gedruckt auf Vélin de cuve B.F.K. filigrané der Charge von 307 nummerierten Exemplaren. Die mit eingelegten Seidenhemdchen geschützten Radierungen im intensiven Kolorit, der Handeinband aus der von Hornby mitbegründeten Buchbinderei W. H. Smith. - Provenienz: Charles Harold St John Hornby (1867-1946), englischer Pressendrucker und Buchbinder, mit dessen Besitzeretikett auf dem Vorderspiegel und der eigenhändigen Widmung des Verfassers auf dem Vortitelblatt recto: "C. H. St J. Hornby from André Maurois. - Vorsätze leimschattig, papierbeding gering gebräunt. Insgesamt wohlerhaltenes unikales und meisterhaft gebundenes Exemplar.
Modern Literature and Art – Author's copy h.c. with an inscription by the author to C. H. St John Hornby (Ashedene Press). - Monod 7975 - With 16, including 5 full-paged copperplate etchings coloured by Saudé and engraved by Maccard, as well as 21 partly coloured head-pieces, vignettes and initials based on drawings by A. Benois. - Printed on Vélin de cuve B.F.K. filigrané. The etchings, protected by encloses tissue papers, are intensely coloured, and the skilfully hand-bound cover is from the W. H. Smith bookbindery, co-founded by Hornby. - Provenance: Charles Harold St John Hornby (1867-1946), English bibliophile printer (Ashedene Press) and bookbinder, with his printed owner's label on the front pasted-down and an inscription by the author's on the on the front fly-leaf recto: "C. H. St J. Hornby from André Maurois. - Endpapers slightly shadowed, slightly browned due to the paper. Overall, a well-preserved, unique and masterfully bound copy.
