Geschichtswissenschaften – Erste Ausgabe. - Heyd I, 815. Krauß II, 207. Slg. Borst 2011. Stammhammer I, 268. Leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.
History – 3 parts in 1 vol. Contemp half leather with gold-stamped title, rich gilt spine and speckled edges (minor bumping). - First edition. - Magnificent copy of the rare first edition. Wilhelm Zimmermann (1807-1887) came from an old Stuttgart winegrowing family. During his time as a pastor in Dettingen/Urach, he wrote the history of the Great Peasants' War, which made him so famous that even as a representative of St. Paul's Church, he was called the "Peasants' War Zimmermann." Zimmermann was considered the most radical Württemberg representative of the National Assembly in St. Paul's Church, whom Friedrich Engels considered among the "best on the extreme left in Frankfurt." He portrayed the peasants' struggle for their ancient and natural rights and for a just order in Germany in a way that had never been done before. This work is based on serious source study and is the result of many years of work. It became the primary source for G. Hauptmann's "Florian Geyer" and influenced Friedrich Engels, who later published on the same topic. - Edges slightly browned. Light foxing. Overall, well preserved.
