Zt. auf sechs falschen Bünden über Kartondecken mit floral ornamentiertem RTit. in Blindpräg. und handschriftlichem Titelschild (an den Ecken und Kanten bestoßen, an den Kapitale und Gelenken eingerissen, berieben und fleckig).

Geschichtswissenschaften – Erste, erweiterte kirchenslawische Ausgabe der um 1100 verfassten Weltchronik des byzantinischen Historikers Kedrenos. - Von großer Seltenheit im Handel und in Institutionen, auch in Einzelbänden. Über WorldCat außerhalb Russlands in nur einem historischen Exemplar nachweisbar (Staatsbibl. Berlin, Kriegsverlust). - Erster und zweiter Teil (von 3) der ersten kirchenslawischen Ausgabe von Georgios Kedrenos' (auch Kedrin, Cedrenus) historischem Kompendium, welches von der biblischen Erschaffung der Welt bis zum Jahr 1057 reicht. Der Übersetzer Ioann Ioannowitsch Sidorowskij (1748-95), ein Geistlicher und Mitglied der Russischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, fügte der aus verschiedenen Quellen kompilierten Synopse von Kedrenes zahlreiche, insbesondere archäologische Anmerkungen bei und erweiterte dessen Darstellungen um weitere 500 Jahre bis in die Mitte des 15. Jh. - Provenienz: Dreizeiliger, um 1900 angebrachter Besitzervermerk in Tinte auf vorderen Vorsatz recto mit der Nenning Mariä-Schutz-und-Fürbitte-Kirche, Trubtschewsk, Brjansk, Russland. - Es fehlt der dritte Teil mit Sidorowskijs Erweiterung für das 11. bis 15 Jh. - Einige Seiten und Hinterspiegel mit Marginalien in Tinte von alter Hand. - Buchblock im Gelenk stellenweise gebrochen. Die ersten 20 Blätter durchgehend mit kleiner Wurmspur, einige dieser Blätter lose und mit geringen Randläsuren. Leicht finger- und schmutzfleckig in Fuß- und Außensteg sowie Schnitt, stellenweise an den Rändern leicht wasserfleckig. Insgesamt sauberes Exemplar dieses Rarissimums.

History – First, expanded Church Slavonic edition of the world chronicle written around 1100 by the Byzantine historian Kedrenos. - Very rare in trade and in institutions alike, also in single volumes. Only one (historical) tracing outside Russia via WorldCat (Staatsbibl. Berlin, copy lost during WWII). - First and second part (of 3) of the first Church Slavonic edition of Georgios Kedrenos (also Kedrin, Cedrenus) historical compendium, which spans from the biblical creation of the world to the year 1057. The translator Ioann Ioannovich Sidorovsky (1748-95), a clergyman and member of the Russian Academy of Science, added numerous notes, especially archaeological ones, to Kedrenos synopsis, already compiled from various sources, and extended his accounts by a further 500 years to the middle of the 15th century. - Provenance:. Three-line owner's note in ink from around 1900 on the front fly-leaf with the entry of the "Church of the Protection and Intercession of the Virgin Mary", Trubchevsk, Bryansk, Russia. - The third part with Sidorovsky's supplement for the 11th until the 15th ct. is missing. - Some pages and rear paste-down with marginalia in ink by an old hand. - Book block broken in places at the joint. Lvs. 1-20 with a continuous small warmhole, some of theses leaves with wear and minimal tears at margins. Slight finger-staining and soiling throughout at margins as well as edges, in places slightly water-stained at margins. Overall a solid copy of this truly scarce item with 6 illustrated or ornamental wood-cut head-pieces.
