Ruscelli, Reg.), 183 (3) u. 88 Bll. Kl.-8°. Geglätteter Kalbsldr. d. 17 Jh. auf zwei Bünden mit hs. RTit., Streicheisenornamenten und rot gesprenkeltem Schnitt (minimal beschabt).
Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Sorgfältig edierte venezianische Ausgabe einiger von Appians Schriften über die Römische Kriegen. - EDIT 16 CNCE 2198. - BM STC Italian, S. 35. Nicht bei Adams. - Verbesserte und um ein umfangreiches Sachregister erweiterte frühe italienische Auswahlausgabe von Appianos von Alexandria (um 90-160) auf Griechisch verfasstem Geschichtswerk "Rhomaika", mit Darstellungen u.a. der Kriege Roms gegen Kathargo, in Illyrien und auf der spanischen Halbinsel, teils eigens für diese Ausgabe nach einer bislang unbekannten griechischen Handschrift übersetzt von dem Renaissance-Gelehrten Girolamo Ruscelli. - Mit zahlreichen Marginalien von älterer Hand in italienischer Sprache. Vom Buchbinder eng beschnitten, im oberen Rand teils mit, allerdings sehr geringem, Textverlust. Stellenweise leicht gebräunt und an den Rändern mitunter gering schmutz- und fingerfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhaltenes Exemplar im attraktiven Kalbsledereinband.
Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – With 2 large wood-cut printer's devices, as well as several illustrated wood-cut head-pieces and initals, bound in a mottled calf leather from the 17th ct. - Carefully edited Venetian edition of some of Appian's writings on the Roman Wars. - Revised edition, enlarged with an extensive index. An early Italian edition of a selection of Appian of Alexandria (c. 90-160) Greek historical work "Rhomaika," with depictions of, among other things, Rome's wars against Carthage, in Illyria, and on the Spanish peninsula, partly translated especially for this edition from a previously unknown Greek manuscript by the Renaissance scholar Girolamo Ruscelli. - With numerous marginal notes in an older hand in Italian. - Closely trimmed by the bookbinder, with some, although very minor, loss of text in the upper margin. Slightly browned in places, and with some minor dirt and finger-staining along the edges. Overall, a well-preserved copy in an attractive calfskin binding.
