"Schon in seiner Jugend hatte er sich für Literatur interessiert, v. a. für hist. Dramen. Er versuchte sich selbst als Autor ritterl. Schauspiele, widmete sich der literar. Aufarbeitung des Lebens geschichtl. Potentaten und hinterließ zahlreiche Werke, von denen das 1839 anonym erschienene epische Ged. 'Otto der Große und die Ungarn' das wohl anspruchsvollste ist."
