Literatur des 17. bis 19. Jahrhunderts – Mit Exlibris von L. Froissart. - Prachtvoller italienischer Fächereinband (Relieure à la fanfare) der Spät-Renaissance. - Deckelornamentik mit Rankenwerk um ein ovales Mittelfeld und vier Vogelmotiven in den Ecken, eingefasst in ornamentale Filette. Rücken unterteilt in sechs Segmente mit wiederholten Fleurons. - "Dem Nicolas Ève wird nach alter Überlieferung, aber ohne Beweise, die Einführung eines neuen Dekorationsstiles, des sogenannten "Fanfares"-Stiles zugeschrieben, der von den Entrelacs à la Grolier und dem Bandwerk der Henri-II-Bände ganz abweicht. Bei den Dekorationen "à la fanfare" ist das Bandwerk nicht verschwunden, aber eng geführt, Vierpässe, Sechspässe und Achten bildend. (...) Das Charakteristische und am meisten in die Augen fallende an dieser Dekoration sind die erwähnten Spiralen und die naturalistischen Zweige. Der seltsame, nichts besagende Ausdruck "fanfares" ist für dieses Muster erst im 19. Jahrhundert aufgekommen." " (H. Loubier, Der Bucheinband S. 191). - Stockfleckig und Ränder gebräunt. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

Red-brown morocco binding "à la fanfare" with floral gilt to spine and cover and gilt edges (rubbed, foot with small loss at front hinge, slight losses to boards). - With exlibris by L. Froissart. - Splendid Italian fan binding (Relieure à la fanfare) of the late Renaissance. - Cover ornamentation with tendrils around an oval central field and four bird motifs in the corners, framed in ornamental fillet. Spine divided into six segments with repeated fleurons. - "According to old tradition, but without proof, Nicolas Ève is credited with the introduction of a new decorative style, the so-called 'fanfares' style, which differs completely from the entrelacs à la Grolier and the ribbon work of the Henri II volumes. In the "à la fanfare" decorations, the ribbon work has not disappeared, but it is more tightly wound, forming quatrefoils, semiquavers and quavers. (...) The characteristic and most striking features of this decoration are the aforementioned spirals and the naturalistic branches.
