Literatur des 17. bis 19. Jahrhunderts – Erste und einzige Ausgabe des für die Corvinische Rennaissance wichtigen Werks. - Brooks 199. - Pater Ireneo Affrò (1741-97) verfasste zahlreiche biografische Werke über parmensische Autoren, oft bei Bodoni veröffentlicht. Das vorliegende Werk befasst sich mit einem von ihnen, Taddeo Ugoleto (gest. 1513/15), einem der produktivsten Drucker seiner Zeit in Parma. Ugoleto ging später nach Ungarn, wo er sich maßgeblich an der Bildung der ungarischen intellektuellen Elite beteilige und insbesondere berühmte italienische Gelehrte wie A. Lippus Brandolinus und G. A. Sacca an den Hof von Matthias Corvinus holte. Diese kurze, aber glänzende Periode der ungarischen Geschichte bezeichnet man heute als Corvinische Renaissance. - Die Titelvignette zeigt eine Münze mit dem Porträt von Ugoleto, die im Florentiner Museum Mazzuchhelli aufbewahrt wird. - Provenienz: Franz Josef, Fürst von Koháry (1769-1826), mit dessen Signatur in Tinte, datiert 1788. - Titelei gering stockfleckig, sonst wohlerhaltenes Exemplar des breitrandigen Drucks auf voluminösem Bütten.

Literature of 17th to 19th Century – With engraved title vignette. - First and only edition. Father Ireneo Affrò (1741-97) wrote a large number of biographical works relating to the Parmesan writers and literates, many of which were published by Bodoni. The present work concerns one of them, Taddeo Ugoleto (1513-15), one of the most prolific printers active in Parma of it's time. Ugoleto was instrumental for the formation of the Hungarian intellectual élite, especially calling famous Italian scholars like A. Lippus Brandolinus and G. A. Sacca to the Court of Matthias Corvinus. This short but magnificient period of Hungarian history has taken the name of Corvinian Renaissance. - Provenance: Ferenc József, Duke of Koháry (1769-1826), with his signature, dated 1788. - Title page and first fly-leaf slightly foxed, otherwise a well-preserved on thick paper with wide margins of this fine edition.
