Jhd. – Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Norddeutschland. - Patrick von Kalckreuth war ein deutscher Maler, dessen motivische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Meer und der Schiffahrt in seiner für kurze Zeit währenden Tätigkeit als Seemann begründet ist, auf die anschließend sein Studium der Malerei an der Berliner Hochschule der Bildenden Künste folgte. Auf seinen Bildern von Schiffen auf hoher See und einsamen Stränden rückte nach und nach die mimetische Abbildung des von Wind und Wellen bewegten Wassers in den Vordergrund. Die Werke von Kalckreuth zeichnen sich durch die ausgesprochen sensible und lebensnahe Wiedergabe von Lichtstimmung, Temperatur und Bewegtheit aus. Bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1970 galt von Kalckreuth als Meister der maritimen Malerei, und seine Werke befinden sich in zahlreichen Sammlungen in Norddeutschland. - Vereinzelte Oberflächenbereibungen und Kratzer mit punktuellem Farbverlust im unteren mittleren Bildfeld sowie zwei größere Läsuren der Leinwand von jeweils ca. 10-12 cm. Punktuell kaum merkliche, winzige Einstichlöchlein sowie vereinzelte Anschmutzungen. Partiell angegilbt und mit feinem Craquelée. Insgesamt gut. Stimmungsvolles, lebensnah ausgearbeitetes Motiv in frischem Kolorit.

Framed. - Provenance: Private collection, Northern Germany. - Patrick von Kalckreuth was a German painter whose motivic interest in the sea and shipping is rooted in his brief occupation as a sailor which was followed by his studies in painting at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. His scenes of a storm-tossed sea in which the depiction of the moving water itself increasingly came to the fore are characterised by a marked sensitivity to the mood of light and temperature. Until his death in 1970, von Kalckreuth was considered a master of maritime painting and his work can be found in numerous collections in Northern Germany. - Occasional surface rubbing and scratches with isolated loss of colour in the lower centre as well as two larger tears to the canvas, each approx. 10-12 cm. Tiny pinholes, barely noticeable in places and occasional soiling. Partially yellowed and with fine craquelure. Overall good. Atmospheric, lifelike motif in fresh colours.
