Mit breiter Holzschnitt-Titelbordüre (dat. 1518) um rot-schwarzen Titeldruck sowie 5 mit Rankenwert verzierten großen Initialen. Augsburg, Grimm und Wirsung, 20. Sept. 1519. 82 nn. Bll. (Sign. A-V4, 2 n. sign. Bll.) 4°. HPgmt. d. 17. Jh. mit hs. RTit., marmor. Decken u. umseitigen Rotschnitt (Bezug mit Fehlstellen, etwas beschabt, bestoßen und fleckig).

Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Zweite gedruckte Ausgabe überhaupt der spätantiken "Historien" von Agathias. - VD 16 A 612 - Adams A 325 - Panzer VI, 156, 165 - Zapf 76. - Der Erstdruck in der hier vorliegenden lateinischen Übersetzung des ursprünglich auf Griechisch verfassten Werks des oströmischen Historikers Agathias Scholastikos (um 531-582) des war 1516 in Rom erschienen. - Die opulente Titeleinfassung ist abgebildet bei Pflugk-Harttung, Tafel 14 und, mit vorliegendem Titel, bei Johnson, Tafel 23. - Spiegel und Vorsätze stärker fleckig, einige Bll. wasserrandig, mitunter leicht fingerfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhaltenes, sammelwürdiges Exemplar.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – Second printed edition of Agathias's late antique "Histories." - For references see above. - The first print, in the Latin translation presented here, of the work originally written in Ancient Greek by the Eastern Roman historian Agathias Scholastikos (c. 531-582) was published in Rome in 1516. - The opulent wood-cut title framing is reproduced in Pflugk-Harttung, plate 14, and, with the present title, in Johnson, plate 23. - Paste-downs and endpapers with heavier staining, some leaves wate-rstained, some leaves occasionally slightly finger-stained. Overall, a well-preserved, collectible copy.
