Italien

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. Insgesamt gut. Zarte und detailliert ausgearbeitete Aquarellstudie des Künstlers.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Watercolour on brownish paper. Signed and dated. Spot mounted on backing and under passepartout. - Paper somewhat wavy due to the technique. At margins with some tears, these backed or restored, motif not affected. With traces of studio on verso. - Grandson of Christian Georg Schütz of the same name, Schütz the Younger died at the age of 20 and left behind only a small oeuvre. He was considered very talented. - The tomb of Caecilia Metella, an imposing funerary monument on the Via Appia Antica in Rome, is shown in front of a background decorated with staffage figures in the foreground. The tomb was depicted by a number of artists at the time, for example Hohann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein in the background of his painting "Goethe in der Campagna". - Delicately browned due to the paper (partly somewhat irregular), slightly wavy due to the technique, some tears in the margins, these partly backed or restored, verso with surrounding backing and somewhat stained. Overall good. Delicate and detailed watercolour study by the artist.
