Photographie - Photographen – August Sachtler (um 1839-1873) war ein in Singapur ansässiger deutscher Photograph, der v.a. durch seine Aufnahmen aus Hinterindien und Ostasien bekannt geworden ist. - Vorliegende Aufnamen zeigen vorwiegend Portraits (meist von Männern, einige Kinder u. Familien) u.a. von: Chinesen, siamesischer Gelehrter, ein Perser, ein junger Thailänder, Verkäufer u.a. Personen aus Malaysia etc. - Zwei Dubletten. - Recto oder verso häufig mit zeitgenössischen Bezeichnungen in Bleistift, vereinzelt verso in Tinte alt beschriftet und davon 2 hs. "A. Sachtler" bezeichnet. - Abzüge etwas verblasst, tls. gering kratzspurig, vereinzelt gering (stock-) fleckig, sonst insg. guter Zustand.

CdV (each mounted on cardboard, ca. 10.5 x 6.8 cm). - August Sachtler (approx. 1839-1873) was a German photographer based in Singapore, who became known primarily for his photographs of the back Indies and East Asia. - The present photographs show mainly portraits (mostly of men, some children and families) of, among others: Chinese, a Siamese scholar, a Persian, a young Thai, salesmen and others from Malaysia etc. - Two duplicates. - Recto or verso frequently with contemporary inscriptions in pencil, some single old inscriptions in ink on verso, 2 of which inscribed 'A. Sachtler'. - Prints somewhat faded, partly slightly scratched, occ. slightly foxed or stained, otherwise overall good condition.
