Huber aus dem Nachlass herausgegeben. Die "Ansichten" sind Forsters geschlossenste und schriftstellerisch bedeutendste Leistung, für die es in Deutschland im Bereich der essayistischen Reisebeschreibung kein Vorbild gibt. Forster wollte aus eigener Anschauung Einblick in die revolutionären Vorgänge gewinnen, und so wählte er den Weg durch die Länder der bürgerlichen Freiheit, durch die Aufruhrgebiete Brabant, Flandern und durch Frankreich. Sein Gefährte während der ganzen Dauer der Reise war der einundzwanzigjährige Alexander von Humboldt (Braecklein, Aufklärung I, 436). - Ränder leicht gebräunt. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Contemp. cardboarrdeach with a gilt-stamped spine label and red edges (slightly rubbed and bumped). - First edition. - With handwritten ownership notes on the endpapers. - The third volume, edited by L.F. Huber from his estate. The "Views" are Forster's most comprehensive and literary achievement, for which there is no precedent in Germany in the field of essayistic travel writing. Forster wanted to gain firsthand insight into the revolutionary events, and so he chose the route through the lands of civil liberty, through the rebellious regions of Brabant, Flanders, and France. His companion throughout the entire journey was the 21-year-old Alexander von Humboldt (Braecklein, Aufklärung I, 436). - Edges slightly browned. Overall, very well preserved.
