Nouvelle Carte de la Partie Occidentale De Dalmatie. Und: Nouvelle Carte De La Partie Orientale De Dalmatie. Grenzkolorierte Kupferstichkarten, je mit illustrierter Titelkartusche, Ortsangaben, Bergrücken und Wasserläufen, sowie grafischem Maßstab (ca. 1:430.000 in ital. Meilen). Venedig, bei Remondini, 1810 (recte 1766). Zwei, je einmal horizontal- und vertikal gefaltete Blätter, je 63,5 x 50,5 (Blattgröße), im Falz montiert.

Geographie und Reisen – Großformatige, detailreiche venezianische Karte der Küste Dalmatiens, von Zadar bis Kotor. - Der venezianische Verleger Francesco Santini und sein Bruder, der Kupferstecher Paolo, erwarben die Druckplatten des zwischen 1757-58 in Paris erschienenen Erfolgsprojekts "Atlas Universel" der Brüder Vaugondy, die mit Paolos Überarbeitungen neu gestochen wurden. Ab 1776 erschien dann, zunächst bei den Santinis, ab 1777 bei den renommierten Druckerverlegern Remondini, der "Atlas Universel dressé sur les meilleures cartes modernes", aus dem vorliegende Karten der nördlichen und südlichen Küste Dalmatiens stammen. - Die Karten zeigen insbesondere die komplexen Küstenlinien, zahlreiche Inseln und zerklüftetes Binnenland. Zur Zeit seiner Entstehung hatte die dalmatinische Küste aufgrund ihrer Bedeutung für den Seehandel und dessen territoriale Kontrolle eine große strategische Bedeutung. - Eine in die "Partie Oriental" eingefügte Nebenkarte (23 x 14 cm) zeigt den Golf von Kotor. - In den Ecken und am unteren Rand außerhalb der Darstellung teils durch Beschnitt verlustige hs. Annotationen in Deutsch. Teils leicht stockfleckig, mit geringen Randläsuren, in den Falzen mit kaum sichtbaren Lichträndern, einige Knickgriffe. Insgesamt gut erhaltene, von Remondini kräftig und kontrastreich auf voluminösem Papier gestochene Karte.

Geography and Travel – Large-format, detailed Venetian map of the Dalmatian coast from Zadar to Kotor. - Venetian publisher Francesco Santini and his brother, engraver Paolo, acquired the printing plates of the successful 'Atlas Universel' project by the Vaugondy brothers, published in Paris between 1757 and 1758, which were re-engraved with Paolo's revisions. From 1776 onwards, the 'Atlas Universel dressé sur les meilleures cartes modernes' was published, initially by the Santinis and from 1777 onwards by the renowned printer-publishers Remondini, from which the present maps of the northern and southern coasts of Dalmatia originate. - The maps show in particular the complex Adriatic coastlines, numerous islands and rugged inland terrain. During the time the Dalmatian coast held strategic significant importance due to its role in maritime trade and the territorial control of it. - A secondary map (23 x 14 cm) inserted into the 'Partie Oriental' shows the Gulf of Kotor. - In the corners and lower margin outside the image, some handwritten annotations in German have been lost due to trimming. Some slight foxing, with minor edge damage, barely visible light edges in the folds, some creases. Overall, a well-preserved map, engraved by Remondini in bold and contrasting colours on voluminous laid paper.
