Asien - China

- Wasserrandig. Ränder gebräunt, leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Leather with gilt title (slightly rubbed and scraped). - With handwritten note on the endpaper. - Richly illustrated regional studies of China, covering geography, ethnography, religious history, natural history, architecture, and philology, as well as various travel routes. Due to its scholarly thoroughness, the work of the Jesuit and Baroque polymath Kircher was groundbreaking for European knowledge of China. By reproducing Xiang's inscription, Kircher demonstrated that Christianity was already known in China centuries ago. - Waterstained. Browned edges, light foxing. Overall, very well preserved.
