Geographie und Reisen – Erste deutsche Ausgabe. - Embacher 233 - Graesse V, 373 - Ebert 17515 - Röhricht 1895 - Band I beschreibt Ägypten, Band II Palästina, Syrien, Mesopotamien, Kreta und Zypern, Band III Türkei und Griechenland. Die schönen und kräftigen Kupfertafeln zeigen Bauwerke, Botanik, Karten, Zoologie, Natur, Kunsthandwerk und Personen. Pococke (1704-1765) reiste nach seinem Studien in Oxford zwischen 1737 und 1742 Ägypten Arabien und Griechenland und veröffentlichte seine Exploratiionen im vorliegenden Werk. - Es fehlen die Tafeln 1, 7, 60, 61, 64 u. 65 (in Kopie beigebunden). - Titel von Bd. 1 mit Namensstempel, teils etwas gebräunt und wasserrandig

He was the Bishop of Ossory and Meath in Ireland. With nice engraved views, botany, buildings, arts and crafts and people of Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia, Kreta, Cyprus, Turkey, and Greece. -
