Geographie und Reisen – Selten. - Auf dem Titel mit montierter Widmung des Autors an "M.r le Docteur Adler". - "Wir verdanken es den litterarischen Bestrebungen Napoleon III, dass der ägyptische Hofastronom Mahmud-Bey von Ismail Pascha den Auftrag erhielt , eine genaue Terrainuntersuchung und Vermessung des Bodens des alten Alexandria vorzunehmen und ihm zu diesem Zweck 200 Arbeiter für die nöthigen Ausgrabungen zur Verfügung gestellt wurden. Das Resultat dieser Arbeiten wurde 1867 dem damaligen französischen Kaiser in einem grossen Plan von Alexandria und einem begleitenden ausführlichen Memoire übersandt." (Jahresbericht über die Fortschritte der classischen Alterthumswissenschaft, 1. Jg 1873, II, S. 1092) - Etwas gebräunt und fleckig. Karten leicht knickspurig. Wohlerhalten.

Cont. half leather with gilt title and marbled boards (rubbed and bumped). - Rare. - On the title with mounted dedication of the author to "M.r le Docteur Adler". - Some browning and spotting. Maps slightly creased. In good condition.
