Naturwissenschaften – Erste Ausgabe der ersten Monografie über Wild- und Großkatzen der UdSSR, von großer Seltenheit. - N. A. Bobrinskij (1890-1964), ein bedeutender Vertreter der Moskauer Schule der Zoologie, begann seine wissenschaftliche Laufbahn an der Moskauer Universität und dem ihr unterstellten Darwin-Museum. Aus dieser Zeit stammt seine langjährige Freundschaft mit den Gründern des Museums, Aleksandra Koz und Nadeshda Ladygina. Auf der Flucht vor einer möglichen Verhaftung ging er in den 1920er Jahren für einige Jahre nach Taschkent. Nach seiner Rückkehr Ende der 1930er Jahre konzentrierte sich Bobrinskij in seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit auf die Fauna Zentralasiens. Er leitete mehrere Expeditionen und veröffentlichte unter anderem Führer über jagdbare Tiere und Monographien über Murmeltiere. Seine Werke wurden begeistert gelesen und nachgedruckt. - Die vorliegende Monografie war die erste ihrer Art, die in der UdSSR veröffentlicht wurde. Besonders interessant sind die Beschreibungen mit authentischen Zeichnungen der wilden und großen Katzen aus Zentralasien. Die Felddaten wurden von Bobrinskij selbst erhoben, darunter auch Informationen über die seltenen Schneeleoparden in der Region. Die Veröffentlichung von Bobrinskys Forschungsergebnissen wurde von "Sojuspuschnina" (d. h. der staatlichen Pelzhandelsagentur) unterstützt. - Einige Blätter mit leichtem Lichtrand und minimal stockfleckig, ansonsten gut erhaltenes, größtenteils unbeschnittenes Exemplar. - Äußerst rar. Für uns im Handel derzeit nicht, in institutionellen Beständen über WorldCat nur in einem Exemplar nachweisbar (Ural Federal University, Ekaterinburg, Russia).

Natural Sciences – Zoology. - Cats. - First edition of the first monograph on wild and big cats of the USSR, a very rare work, with 8 text illustrations after drawings, in the original publisher's wrappers. - N. A. Bobrinsky (1890-1964), a prominent representative of the Moscow School of Zoology, began his scientific career at Moscow University and its Darwin Museum. His long-standing friendship with the museum's founders, Aleksander Kots and Nadezhda Ladygina, dates back to this time. Fleeing possible arrest, he went to Tashkent for several years in the 1920s. After his return in the late 1930s, Bobrinsky focused his scientific work on the fauna of Central Asia. He led several expeditions and published, among other things, guides to hunting animals and monographs on marmots. His works were enthusiastically read and reprinted. - This monograph was the first of its kind to be published in the USSR. Particularly interesting are the descriptions with authentic drawings of the wild and large cats of Central Asia. The field data was collected by Bobrinsky himself, including information on the rare snow leopards in the region. Out of economic interest the publication of Bobrinsky's research findings was supported by "Soyuspushnina" (the State Fur Trade Agency). - The spine and top of the cover have small missing parts, some leaves have slight light staining and minimal foxing, otherwise a well-preserved, largely untrimmed copy. - Extremely rare. Currently not available for sale in our stores, only one copy is available in institutional collections via WorldCat (Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg, Russia).
