Naturwissenschaften – Mit Exlibris von Thomas Schöttler. - Werk über die verschiedenen Gattungen der Reptilien von dem deutschen Zoologen und Illustrator Michael Oppel (1782-1820). Nachdem er durch seine Illustrationen die Aufmerksamkeit wohlhabender Gönner erregt hatte, kam er durch ein Stipendium zum Studium nach Paris. Dort arbeitete er als Assistent für den bedeutenden Naturforscher André Marie Constant Duméril und lernte weitere Persönlichkeiten wie auch Alexander von Humboldt kennen. Er war für einige dieser neuen Bekanntschaften als Illustrator tätig. - Leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

After attracting the attention of wealthy patrons with his illustrations, he received a scholarship to study in Paris. There he worked as an assistant to the eminent naturalist André Marie Constant Duméril and met other personalities such as Alexander von Humboldt. He worked as an illustrator for some of these new acquaintances. - Slightly foxed. Overall in very good condition.
