Naturwissenschaften – Erste Ausgabe. - Nissen ZBI, 2493. - Adler II, pp. 77-78 - Der deutsche Zoologe und Histologe Franz Leydig (1821-1908) widmete sich der Untersuchung der heimischen Tiere und war Mitbegründer der vergleichenden Gewebelehre. In der Einleitung zu seinem Werk appelliert er, dass dieser Gruppe von Tieren mehr Beachtung in der Forschung geschenkt werden sollte. Noch zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts sei das Wissen über die heimischen Reptilien sehr gering gewesen, weshalb er sich im Laufe seiner Karriere wiederholt mit den Reptilien befasste. - Stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

Original half leather with gold-stamped title and red edges (rubbed and bumped). - First edition. - The German zoologist and histologist Franz Leydig (1821-1908) devoted himself to the study of native animals and was a co-founder of comparative histology. In the introduction to his work, he appeals for this group of animals to be given more attention in research. At the beginning of the 19th century, knowledge about native reptiles was still very limited, which is why he repeatedly studied reptiles throughout his career. - Foxing. Overall in good condition.
