Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel) Nr. 53 (Fallopio, späte Ausg. von 1715) und Nr. 18 (Landrè, vorl. Ausgabe). - Seltene erste deutsche Ausgabe dieses erfolgreichen und typischen 'Kunstbuches' des 16. Jahrhunderts. - Vielseitige Sammlung volkstümlicher Rezepturen, Essenzen und Salben sowie zahlr. alchemistischen Geheimmitteln. Die Zuschreibung des Werkes an den berühmten Anatom und Vesal-Schüler Fallopio (1523-62) ist sicher falsch, sie diente wohl einzig der Verkaufsförderung des Buches. ("The popular 'Secreti diversi et miracolosi', 1563, often attributed to Falloppio, is spurious", DSB). - Das beigedruckte Werk von Landrinus (Landré) mit eigenem Titel "Haußartzney" empfiehlt zahlreiche Heilmittel, darunter Urin und Kot von Mensch und Tier als Medizin, somit einer der Vorläufer von Paullinis Dreck-Apotheke! Ein Gebrauchsbuch für den Alltag mit den entsprechenden Gebrauchsspuren: Einband stärker berieb., wenige Wurmgänge, Schließen entfernt. Vorsätze angestaubt. Etw. gebräunt, stock- und wasserfl., ein Bl. mit Eckausriss, wenige Bll. mit kl. Einrissen (davon einer geklebt). Am Schluss zwei weiße Lagen beigebunden, davon 2 Seiten mit hs. Eintragungen. Innendeckel und fliegender Vorsatz mit hs. Besitzvermerk von Hans Georg Schönfels, dat. 1641 und 1638.

Natural Sciences – Medicine - Pharmacy. - Rare first German edition of this successful and typical 16th-century 'art book'. - A diverse collection of folk recipes, essences, and ointments, as well as numerous alchemical secret remedies. The attribution of the work to the famous anatomist and Vesalius student Fallopio (1523-62) is certainly incorrect, it probably served only to promote sales of the book. ("The popular 'Secreti diversi et miracolosi', 1563, often attributed to Falloppio, is spurious," DSB). - The accompanying work by Landrinus (Landré) with its own title "Haußartzney" recommends numerous remedies, including urine and feces from humans and animals as medicine, making it one of the precursors of Paullini's Dreck-Apotheke! A practical book for everyday use with corresponding signs of wear: cover heavily rubbed, a few wormholes, clasps removed. Endpapers dusty. Somewhat browned, moldy and waterstained, one leaf with corner tear, a few leaves with small tears (one of which has been glued). Two white sheets bound at the end, 2 pages of which have handwritten entries. Inside cover and flyleaf with handwritten ownership note by Hans Georg Schönfels, dated 1641 and 1638.
