Translator's name appears in Persian on t(itle) p(age). The translation has also been attributed to Matthaeus a Sancto Josepho" (Wellcome). - "In Betracht kommt ein Werk über Arzneimittel, das unter dem Titel 'Toohft ul Moomineen' oder 'Tohfat-ul Mowmin' ... im Jahre 1669, nach eigener Angabe als viertes Werk in dieser Wissenschaft geschrieben wurde. Schon 1681 wurde es von einem Karmeliter-Mönch Jos. de la Brosse (Frater Angelus) aus Toulouse während seines Aufenthalts in Ispahan unter dem Titel 'Pharmacopoea Persica...' übersetzt. Vier Zeilen wiederholen persisch, dass Angelus die 'Erklärung der zusammengesetzten Arzneimittel Persiens' übersetzt habe ... Das sehr seltene Werk bewegt sich in den ausgetretenen Pfaden griechisch-arabischer Anschauungen. Die 1110 Vorschriften, ... sind nach den Krankheiten, gegen die sie helfen sollen, geordnet. Natural Sciences – First edition. - 19th cent. cardboard with label to spine (rubbed, bumped, edges chafed). - Title page (a copy enclosed) with the following 58 pages and 2 leaves at the beginning as well as pages 357-370 and the white sheet at the end are missing. - Inner board with handwr. note, endpapers renewed and with mounted typed title and mounted typed translation of measurements and weights, bookplate and former ownership entry (dated 1924) by Clément Toepel, leaves trimmed at the white margin, slightly stained in places, overall well preserved.
