Bourguet war, wie seine Lehrer Scheuchzer and Vallisnieri, einer der ersten Wissenschaftler, der sich ausgiebig mit dem Studium von Fossilien beschäftigte. Er teilte John Woodwards Meinung, dass Fossilien frühere marine Lebewesen und die Ergebnisse einer großen Flut waren. - Ränder minimal gebräunt, tls. leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Leather with gilt-stamped title and gilt spine, as well as colored edges (rubbed and bumped). - Rare first edition. - Comprehensive collection of treatises by the early geologist Louis Bourguet and one of the earliest French paleontological works. Bourguet, like his teachers Scheuchzer and Vallisnieri, was one of the first scientists to extensively study fossils. He shared John Woodward's opinion that fossils were earlier marine organisms and the results of a great flood. - Margins minimally browned, some lightly foxed. Overall very well preserved.
