Geologie - Paläontologie

Naturwissenschaften – Zweite Ausgabe. - Ersten Seiten leicht knickspurig. Tls. minimal stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Natural Sciences – Geology - Paleontology - With 8 folded tables. Half leather with gold-stamped spine label (rubbed and bumped, worm-eaten). - Second edition. - Textbook on the classification and identification of fossils based on sensory characteristics. Since the chemical and physical methods available at the time for identifying minerals were too imprecise, the German mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner invented a method based on identification through sensory perception. In this work, he describes color, external and internal shape, hardness, flexibility, attachment to the tongue, sound, and other characteristics of minerals. Werner developed increasingly sophisticated mineral systems and gained worldwide recognition for his oryctognostic classification theory. As a professor at the Mining Academy in Freiberg, he taught, among others, future celebrities such as Alexander von Humboldt. The first few pages have slight creases. Some pages have minor foxing. Overall, very well preserved.
