Fuchs beschreibt rund 497 Pflanzenarten, darunter viele erstmals wissenschaftlich dokumentiert, dazu medizinische Anwendungen, Namen in Latein, Griechisch u. teils Deutsch. Er stützte sich auf antike Quellen wie Dioskurides, Plinius und Galen, ergänzte sie aber durch eigene Beobachtungen. Die insgesamt über 500 Holzschnitte, die erstmals nach der Natur und nicht aus älteren Büchern kopiert wurden, wurden von A. Meyer nach der Natur gezeichnet, H. Füllmaurer übertrug die Zeichnungen auf Holz und Veit Rudolph Speckle schnitt die Holzblöcke und druckte die Bilder. - Unser Exemplar beginnt mit nur 2 Indexbll. und dem Kräuterbuch (ohne Titel etc. und erste 12 Bll., ohne das Porträt von L. Fuchs). 7 Bll. durch Faksimilebll. ersetzt (Bl. 155/6, 189/90, 245/6, 329/30, 689/90, 807/08, 827/8).ca. letzte 120 Bll. mit ergänzter Fehlstelle in rechter unterer Ecke, gegen Ende größer werdend mit minimalem Textverlust, anfangs obere rechte Ecke schwach und unauffällig feuchtigkeitsrandig, gelegentlich etwas fleckig, wenige hs. Anmerkungen, überwiegend gutes, sauberes Exemplar.

Fuchs describes around 497 plant species, many of which were documented scientifically for the first time, along with their medicinal uses and names in Latin, Greek, and some in German. He drew on ancient sources such as Dioscorides, Pliny, and Galen, but supplemented them with his own observations. The more than 500 woodcuts, which were copied from nature for the first time rather than from older books, were drawn from nature by A. Meyer, transferred to wood by H. Füllmaurer, and carved and printed by Veit Rudolph Speckle. Our copy begins with only 2 index leaves and the herb book (without title, etc., and the first 12 leaves, without the portrait of L. Fuchs). 7 leaves replaced by facsimile leaves (leaves 155/6, 189/90, 245/6, 329/30, 689/90, 807/08, 827/8). Approx. last 120 leaves with missing section in lower right corner, becoming larger towards the end with minimal loss of text, upper right corner slightly and inconspicuously damp-stained at the beginning, occasionally slightly stained, overall a good, clean copy.
