Archiv der Gebrüder Dario und Ugo Ornaghi (Ditta Dario e Ugo Fratelli Ornaghi). Umfassende Sammlung von 96 Originalentwürfen für Möbel und Inneneinrichtungen sowie 62 Original-Photographien. Lissone (Mailand), erste Hälfte des 20. Jh. Mit 66 farbigen Buntstift- sowie 30 Bleistiftzeichnungen, auf versch. Papier, darunter leichter, gräulicher Karton, leichtes Velin (mit Wz. "EXTRA STRONG"), Transparentpapier u.a. Blattmaße überwiegend ca. 25 x 35 cm, teils mehrfach gefaltet. Die Originalphotographien je Silbergelatineabzüge, je ca. 20 x 28 cm, 1 Abzug 29 x 39 cm. Recto und verso überwiegend mit dem Stempel der Fratelli Ornaghi, sowie teils gestempelt "Arch. G. Rancati" oder "Fratelli Pironi". - Meist lose unter Passepartout eingelegt oder gesteckt, überwiegend eingelegt in moderne HLeinenkassetten.

Design

Kunstwissenschaften – Umfassende Sammlung italienischer Möbelentwürfe aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert. Das Unternehmen der Brüder war ein Möbelhersteller mit hochwertigen und maßgeschneiderten Stücken für eine wohlhabende Kundschaft. Die Zeichnungen zeigen sorgsam ausgestaltete Räume, teils mit eingezeichneten Maßangaben und aus verschiedenen Ansichten. Außerdem Zeichnungen von versch. Möbelstücken wie Tische, Betten, Kommoden, Buffetschränke, Sessel und weitere Polstermöbel, Vitrinen, Servierschränke, Schreibtische u.a. Die Qualität der Entwürfe und die Auswahl der edlen Materialien (exotische Hölzer, Bruyèreholz, Marmor usw.), die modernistischen Aspekte der Entwürfe, einschließlich der häufigen Verwendung von Glas als architektonisches Element der Möbelstücke rechtfertigen den Stempel "mobili d'arte" voll und ganz. Die Entwürfe zeugen von einer ausgesprochenen Raffinesse, da neben dem Fokus auf edle Materialien auch die Funktionalität eine große Rolle spielte (auffaltbare Tische, Lampen und Polstermöbel mit Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeiten u.a.). Die Fotos in dieser Sammlung zeigen einige der realisierten Entwürfe von Möbelstücken. Die meisten von ihnen sind gestempelt, mit Nummern oder handschriftlichen Eintragungen am Rand versehen. Die Zeichnungen, von denen einige am Rande die Namen der Kunden tragen, sind mit handschriftlichen Notizen versehen und die manchmal auch Maße und zusätzliche Angaben enthalten. Es lassen sich zwei verschiedene Firmenstempel unterscheiden: I. mit drei Zeilen "Dario e Ugo F.lli Ornaghi/Mobili/Lissone-Via Volturno n. 28" und II. mit fünf Zeilen "Ditta Dario e Ugo/Ornaghi/Mobili D'Arte/ Via Volturno n. 28/Lissone". - Beiliegend: Gedruckter Katalog. Dario e Ugo Filii Ornaghi. Brevetti Ornaghi. Lissone (Mailand), Privatverlag, Tipografia G. Arienti ohne Datum (1920er Jahre). 20 Seiten mit zahlreichen Abbildungen von Möbeln nach Fotografien. - Im Blattrand papierbedingt tls. minimal angebräunt, nur vereinzelt mit kaum merklichen blassbraunen Fleckchen, in den Ecken partiell etw. knickspurig, vereinzelt auch leicht stockfleckig, teils mit durchscheinender Montierung, teils mit kl. Randläsuren (kurze Einrisse u.a.). Insgesamt sehr gut. Umfassende und ausgesprochen wohlerhaltene, sowie hinsichtlich der Geschichte des Designs äußerst interessante Sammlung.

Science of Art – Archive of the Dario and Ugo Ornaghi brothers (Ditta Dario e Ugo Fratelli Ornaghi). Comprehensive collection of 96 original designs for furniture and interiors and 62 original photographs. With 66 coloured pencil and 30 pencil drawings, on various types of paper. Some drawings folded. The original photographs each silver gelatin prints. On the front and back mostly with the stamp of Fratelli Ornaghi, as well as partly stamped 'Arch. G. Rancati' or "Fratelli Pironi". - Mostly loosely inserted or pinned under mat, mostly inserted in modern linen cassettes. - Comprehensive collection of Italian furniture designs from the early 20th century. The brothers' company was a furniture manufacturer with high-quality, customised pieces for a wealthy clientele. The drawings show carefully designed rooms, some with measurements drawn in and from different views. In addition, drawings of various pieces of furniture such as tables, beds, chests of drawers, buffet cabinets, armchairs and other upholstered furniture, display cabinets, serving cabinets, desks, etc.. The quality of the designs and the choice of fine materials (exotic woods, briar, marble, etc.), the modernist aspects of the designs, including the frequent use of glass as an architectural element of the furniture, fully justify the label 'mobili d'arte'. The designs are characterised by a pronounced sophistication, as functionality played a major role alongside the focus on noble materials (folding tables, lamps and upholstered furniture with storage options, etc.). - The photos in this collection depict some of the realised furniture designs. Most of them are stamped, with numbers or handwritten entries in the margins. The drawings, some of which bear the names of the customers in the margin, are accompanied by handwritten notes. Two different company stamps can be distinguished: I. with three lines 'Dario e Ugo F.lli Ornaghi/Mobili/Lissone-Via Volturno n. 28' and II. with five lines 'Ditta Dario e Ugo/Ornaghi/Mobili D'Arte/ Via Volturno n. 28/Lissone'. - Enclosed: see above. - Minimally browned in margins due to paper, only occasionally with barely noticeable pale brown stains, some creasing in corners, occasional light foxing, partly with translucent mounting, partly with small marginal tears. Overall good. Comprehensive and very well-preserved, as well as exceptionally interesting collection with regard to the history of design.
