Numismata summorum pontificum templi Vaticani fabricam indicantia. Mit gestochener Titelvignette und 91 Kupfertafeln, davon 16 gefaltet. Rom, Plachi, 1715. 4 Bll., 218 S. Folio. HLdr. im Stil d. Zt. mit RVergoldung und goldgepr. RSchild, Marmordeckel und Lederecken.

Architektur – Dritte Ausgabe nach denen von 1696 und 1700. - Brunet I, 1086. Graesse I, 480. Ornamentstichslg. Berlin 2679. - Sehr wichtiges Werk über die Genese des Petersdoms, illustriert mit prächtigen ganzseitigen Stichen, darunter Ansichten, Pläne und architektonische Reliefs von Bonanni selbst sowie von u.a. Frezza, Specchi, Westerhout, Alet, S. Bartoli. Desweiteren Darstellungen von Denkmälern, Gräbern, Statuen, Münzen, Gräber im Inneren des Doms. Bonanni (1638-1725) war Jesuit, Gelehrter und Numismatiker, Präfekt der Bibliothek des Römischen Kollegs und Direktor des Museum Kircherianum. er ist der Autor zahlreicher Werke antiquarischer und naturwissenschaftlicher Gelehrsamkeit. - Vorsätze alt erneuert. Eingangs teils etwas wasserfleckig. Papierbedingt gebräunt (Titelbl. stärker) und teils etwas braunfleckig. Insgesamt wohlerhaltenes Exemplar des wichtigen Quellenwerks zur Entstehung des Petersdoms.

Architecture – Architecture - With engraved title vignette and 91 copper plates, 16 of which folded. Half leather in the style of the period with gilt decoration and label on spine, marbled boards and leather corners. - Third edition after those of 1696 and 1700. - Very important work on the genesis of St Peter's Basilica, illustrated with splendid full-page engravings, including views, plans and architectural reliefs by Bonanni himself as well as by Frezza, Specchi, Westerhout, Alet, S. Bartoli and others. Also depictions of monuments, tombs, statues, coins, tombs inside the cathedral. Bonanni (1638-1725) was a Jesuit, scholar and numismatist, prefect of the library of the Roman College and director of the Museum Kircherianum. He is the author of numerous works of antiquarian and scientific scholarship. - Old renewed endpapers. Some waterstaining at the beginning. Paper browned (title page more so) and partly somewhat brownstained. Overall a well-preserved copy of this important source work on the origins of St Peter's Basilica.
