Lot 18 Christian Megert. Hommage á Lucio Fontana. …
Hommage á Lucio Fontana. 1972. Spiegelfragmente, auf weißem Karton, collagiert auf schwarzen, leichten Velinkarton. 70 x 50 cm.
ZERO – Mirror fragments, on white cardboard, collaged on black, light velour cardboard. Signed and numbered. High-quality framed under glass (unopened). - Mirror fragments slightly browned in cut edges due to age, overall very good and immaculately fine. - One of 150 copies. - Serial unique work from the artist's early work. - Megert, who, after the founding fathers Otto Piene, Heinz Mack and Günther Uecker, belongs to the inner circle of ZERO, makes ingenious use of the mirror as an artistic medium in his work. In 'Hommage á Fontana', he places mirror fragments on white cardboard cut from geometric shapes and this in turn on a black cardboard. The result is a subtle variance of displacement that sharpens perception. As with Lucio Fontana, who cuts up his picture grounds and establishes a three-dimensional plane, Megert breaks up the picture ground and opens it up into the room. The result is a changing interplay of reflections that culminates in a visual fragmentation.
