Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Selten.
German Post War – Woodcut. Signed, dated and numbered in Roman numbered and inscribed "Woodcut, orange (1990)" in an unknown hand verso. - Margins partially minimally and barely noticeably bumped. Overall very good and flawless. Splendid impression of the monochrome composition, the colour vibrant and fresh. - Very rare. One of only 10 copies. - Günther Förg is regarded as a master of cross-media abstraction who impressively combined painting, photography, sculpture and printmaking. The woodcuts of the early 1990s represent a significant part of his graphic oeuvre and bear witness to his characteristic formal reduction. The present composition also epitomises the clarity the artist strived for, his love of experimentation with materials and his reference to modular abstraction. The monochrome, large-format design in bright orange lends the print an impressive presence and reflects Förg's interest in spatially effective art.
