Nietzscheana - Sammlung Dite
Philosophy and Sociology – First complete edition of Nietzsche's poems and aphorisms (Gedichte und Sprüche), containing the first complete printing of the nine Dionysos-Dithyramben (Dionysian Dithyrambs). Edited by Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche, who provided the volume with an introduction and an afterword. The Dionysos-Dithyramben were written in 1888 and are Nietzsche's last work intended for publication. They did not appear during the poet's lifetime. The first printing followed in 1891 with Naumann, as an appendix to the fourth part of Also sprach Zarathustra, edited by Peter Gast. The cycle comprises nine poems in free rhythms. Three of them derive from texts in Zarathustra, which Nietzsche revised for the collection. In the present 1898 edition, they appear in full for the first time. The volume thus brings together Nietzsche's lyric output, which plays a secondary role alongside his philosophical oeuvre but is closely linked to the Zarathustra complex. The publisher's advertisements at the end (6 leaves) are present in full. The binding is the period-typical vellum binding of the Naumann publishing house, with gilt edges. - Name on inside cover, edges slightly browned.
