Literatur des 17. bis 19. Jahrhunderts – Erste Ausgabe bei Elzevier (zuerst 1624 ersch.). - Willems 1242 - Vgl. Graesse II, 204 - Unterteilt in 6 Bücher, wobei das erste Buch eine Darstellung des Planeten Erde enthält, einschließlich einer Erörterung seiner Klimazonen, seiner Rotation, Anmerkungen zur Seefahrt und zu den Tierkreiszeichen, während die folgenden Bücher verschiedene Länder in Europa, Asien, Afrika und Amerika beschreiben. Die Tafeln zeigen Längen- und Breitenkreise, die Winde des Mittelmeers, die Himmelsrichtungen und Entfernungsmaße. Zudem enthält die vorliegende Ausgabe im Anhang das "Breviarium totius orbis terrarum" des flämischen Geographen Peter Bertius (1565-1629), das verschiedene Länder näher beschreibt und eine Liste der römischen und heiligen römischen Kaiser enthält. - Innenfalz etwas angebrochen, Name auf 1. Textseite, obere Ecke mit (teils hinterlegter) kleiner Wurmspur.
Literature of 17th to 19th Century – First edition, publ. By Elzevier. - With an engraved title page, 3 folded copper plates, and 1 folded table. The plates show lines of longitude and latitude, the winds of the Mediterranean, the cardinal directions, and units of distance. In addition, this edition includes in the appendix the "Breviarium totius orbis terrarum" by the Flemish geographer Peter Bertius (1565-1629), which provides detailed descriptions of various countries and contains a list of Roman and Holy Roman emperors. - Inner fold slightly torn, name on the first page of text, upper corner with a small wormhole (partially filled in).
