Spanien
- Die dekorativen, gestochenen, historischen Karten zeigen Spanien, Neapel, Kalabrien, Sizilien, Sardinien, Korsika u.a. - Gutes, sauberes Exemplar.
Geography and Travel – Spain. - A decorative copy of Spain's first modern, source-critical historical work in 10 volumes. Ferreras was the first historian to radically weed out popular Spanish founding myths, fictional stories of saints, and forged chronicles. Instead, he relied strictly on verifiable medieval documents, treaties, and coins. His account spans from the very earliest beginnings of the Iberian Peninsula to the year 1589. The French translator Vaquette d'Hermilly not only translated the text but also enriched it with extensive critical and historical footnotes. He cross-referenced Ferreras's Spanish perspective with French and German sources, making the work a true European comparative standard reference. - The decorative, engraved historical maps depict Spain, Naples, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, and others. - Marbled, dark brown full-leather bindings of the period, with rich gilding and medallions. - A fine, clean copy.
