Geographie und Reisen – Erste Ausgabe des straßenbaugeschichtlich bemerkenswerten Titels. - Joseph Baumgartner (1796-1884) war Direktor des Niederösterreichischen Straßenbaues. Die Tafeln mit Brücken, Tunneln, Bergstraßen u.a. auf den Strecken von Wien nach Triest, Mailand über den Simplon und über den Stelvio Pass nach Mals, Innsbruck und Salzburg. - Im weißen Rand stellenweise etwas stockfleckig, wenige Blätter auch etwas fingerfleckig und wasserrandig, ebenso die Tafeln, diese in den Rändern mitunter auch mit leicht sichtbarem Lichtrand und etwas angestaubt.

Geography and Travel – First edition of this early work about road construction in the Austrian alps, profusely illustrated with 13 folding lithographed plates. Bound in contemporary marbled boards with spine title on label (somewhat bumped and worn.) - Joseph Baumgartner (1796-1884) was director of the Lower Austrian Road Construction Authority. The plates depict bridges, tunnels, mountain roads, and other features along the routes from Vienna to Trieste, Milan via the Simplon Pass, and via the Stelvio Pass to Mals, Innsbruck, and Salzburg. - Slightly foxed in places, a few sheets and some plates also with slight finger and water staining along the margins, plates at margins with decent shelf-ewar and somewhat dusty.
