Sämmtliche Reisen um die Welt. 3 Bände. Mit 1 Frontispiz für Bd. 1, 5 Kupfertafeln (davon 2 als Frontispiz für Bd. 2 u. 3), 1 gefalteten Karte und einer zusätzlichen gefaltenen Karte der Insel Otaheite von 1816, die normal nicht zur Ausgabe gehört. Wien, Bauer, 1803. Ppbde. d. Zt. mit RSchild (etwas fleckig, Rücken fachmänn. restaureirt).
Geographie und Reisen – Seltene deutschsprachige Ausgabe. - Beddie 65 u. Cook-Bibliogr. Sudney 65, nicht bei Sabin. - Die für die deutsche Ausgabe einzigartigen Kupferstiche wurden von J. Blaschke auf Basis der Arbeiten von William Hodges neu angefertigt, welche ursprünglich aus dem offiziellen Bericht der zweiten Weltumsegelung ("A Voyage towards the South Pole, and round the World") stammen. Das Frontispiz-Porträt geht dabei auf das Gemälde von Nathaniel Dance zurück. Ergänzt wird das Werk in Band 3 (S. 627-636) durch ein separates biografisches Porträt des Seefahrers. - Aus der aufgelösten Bibliothek des Schlosses Münchhofen mit ihrem Stempel auf Titel. Zusätzlich getrüffelt mit der Karte der Insel Otaheite von Kapitän William Wilson, 1816 in Prag gedruckt, die normal nicht zur Ausgabe gehört. - 2 Stempel und 1 Widmung auf Vorsatz und Titel, Papierbedingt minimal gebräunt und vereinzelt etwas fleckig.
Geography and Travel – With 1 frontispiece for vol. 1, 5 copperplate engravings (2 of which serve as frontispieces for vols. 2 and 3), 1 folding map, and an additional folding map of the island of Otaheite from 1816, which is not normally part of this edition. Vienna, Bauer, 1803. Contemporary boards with spine label (somewhat stained, spine expertly restored). Rare German-language edition. - Beddie 65 and Cook Bibliography Sydney 65, not in Sabin. - The engravings unique to the German edition were newly executed by J. Blaschke based on the work of William Hodges, originally taken from the official account of the second circumnavigation of the world ("A Voyage towards the South Pole, and round the World"). The frontispiece portrait derives from the painting by Nathaniel Dance. The work is further supplemented in volume 3 (pp. 627-636) by a separate biographical portrait of the navigator. - From the dispersed library of Münchhofen Castle, with its stamp on the title page. Additionally interleaved with the map of the island of Otaheite by Captain William Wilson, printed in Prague in 1816, which is not normally part of this edition. - 2 stamps and 1 dedication on the endpaper and title page, minimally browned due to paper quality and occasionally somewhat stained in places.
