Das Postwesen und wie solches einzurichten sey, betreffend (hs. Titel). 1687-1704. Sammlung von 18 hs. Schriftstücken verschiedener Schreiber. Je zwischen 2 u. 6 S. sowie 12 (dav. eine doppelt) typogr., tls. mehrf. gefalt. tabellar. Anschlagzetteln mit Postverbindungen sächsischer Städte. Überwiegend Folio (ca. 35 x 21,5 cm). Fadengeheftetes Faszikel. Eingelegt in spät. Kt.-Umschlag um 1930 mit hs. Vermerk "Postlinien um 1700".

History – Collection of 18 manuscript documents concerning postal service and how it should be organised, as well as 12 (one of which is a duplicate) typographic, partly multi-folded tabular notices listing postal connections between Saxon towns. Thread-bound fascicle. Enclosed in a later cardboard cover from around 1930 with handwritten note 'Postal routes around 1700'. - Contains deliberations and efforts by the court bureaucracy of Duke Christian of Saxony-Eisenberg (1653-1707) to establish a postal route for the capital city of Eisenberg in the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenberg, which existed for only a relatively short time, including, amongst other things: A two-page manuscript entitled 'Memorial' by Theodor Wilhelm Uswald, Postmaster of Zeitz, dated 1704. - 1 handwritten draft for the project of a postal service between the towns of Jena, Eisenberg, Zeitz and Altenburg, including arrival and departure times. - Printed notices for postal service routes as listed above. - Mostly uncut handmade paper, some with watermarks. - Partially browned due to paper, printed leaves partially with smaller defects, crease marks and stains (one page with mouldmarks), otherwise overall well preserved, unique collection of documents relating to German postal history around 1700.
