Geschichtswissenschaften – Wichtige kritische Herausgabe des Corpus juris canonici durch die Gebrüder Pithou. - Vgl. Meder S. 153 ff. - Seit der Herausgabe des offiziellen päpstlichen Textes des Corpus juris canonici im Jahre 1582 waren textkritische Arbeiten von den wachsamen, zensorischen Augen der Kirche begleitet. Textkritik im Rahmen des nun festgelegten Textes war zwar möglich, aber eine unvoreingenommene wissenschaftliche Texterarbeitung wie etwa am Corpus juris civilis war gefährlich. Gleichwohl wurde auch am Corpus juris canonici textkritisch weitergearbeitet. Diese Forschungsarbeiten erreichten mit den Gebrüdern Pithou, Schüler des berühmten Jacobus Cuiacius an der Universität Bourges, ihren Höhepunkt. - Etwas gebräunt, teils im oberen Mittelfalz mit Braunfleck.
