Rechtswissenschaften

- Nachgebunden: J. Barbeyraci. Oratio Inauguralis de Dignitate et Utilitate. Amsterdam, Petrus de Coup, 1712. 28 S., 1 Bl. - Ränder gebärunt, leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

History – 2 vols. With an engraved portrait and 2 engraved title vignettes. Contemporary leather binding with rich gilt spine decoration and gilt-stamped spine label, armorial supralibros on the cover, and marbled edges (somewhat rubbed and bumped). - Pufendorf's major work on natural and international law first appeared in 1672 "in a powerfully nuanced Neo-Latin. In the preceding decade, Pufendorf held the first chair of natural and international law. This position required him to interpret Hugo Grotius, and indeed he was regarded in his time as 'Grotii filius', so much did he appear to be a child of his spirit. However, Pufendorf shares with the Dutchman only the morality of a scholastic natural law, otherwise, he leans towards Hobbes" (KNLL 13, 710). - Bound with: J. Barbeyrac. Oratio Inauguralis de Dignitate et Utilitate. Amsterdam, Petrus de Coup, 1712. 28 pp., 1 leaf. - Margins browned, slight foxing. Overall well preserved.
