Jahrhunderts. Auf Titel mit hss. Widmung.
Books on Books, History of Paper and Typography – An extremely rare sales or estate catalog of the library of Léopold-Auguste Constantin, a French librarian and bibliographer who died in 1840. It primarily lists his specialized collection on bibliography and library science, as well as relevant works on the history of books, printing, and literature. Constantin himself had made a name for himself as the author of library science handbooks, including the revised edition of his *Bibliothéconomie, ou Nouveau manuel complet pour l'arrangement, la conservation et l'administration des bibliothèques*, published in 1841. The catalog therefore possesses special documentary value beyond its nature as a sales brochure: it documents the working library of a highly qualified bibliographer and librarian, as well as the bibliographic interests of the French book market in the first half of the 19th century. Some titles bear handwritten dedications.
