Zoologie - Herpetologie

Sehr selten.

Natural Sciences – Zoology. - Herpetology. - Complete run of Jehan A. Vellard's five-part monograph series "Estudios sobre batracios andinos," published over eight years in the Memorias of the Museo de Historia Natural "Javier Prado" in Lima, of which Vellard served as director from 1947 to 1956. The series successively covers the most important Andean amphibian genera: from Telmatobius (parts I and III), through Pleurodema/marmoratus forms (part II), to the tree-frog genus Gastrotheca (part IV) and the toads of the genus Bufo (part V, in which Vellard also described the taxon later named Rhinella vellardi in his honor). This volume thus brings together the entirety of Vellard's fundamental taxonomic and biogeographic treatment of high-Andean amphibians in a single binding - a key reference work for South American herpetology. - The fourth volume of the IFEA series supplements the zoological series with Vellard's ecological field study of the Titicaca Telmatobius populations, as well as an ethnographic-folkloric work on the dances of the Altiplano - the result of his long-term, multidisciplinary field research on Lake Titicaca (1951-1961, published in nine parts altogether). Very rare.
