V, 861 - Killian² 69 (ausführlich) - Von der Göttinger Societät der Wissenschaften prämierte Abhandlung des berühmten österreichischen kaiserlichen Leibchirurgen Joseph Edler von Wattmann (1789-1866), der zu Beginn seiner Laufbahn in Laibach und Innsbruck Chirurgie lehrte, 1824 nach Wien berufen wurde, wo er 'durch seine glänzenden Vorträge eine große Anziehungskraft auf seine Zuhörer ausübte' (Hirsch/H.). - Wattmann führte das französ. Verfahren der Lithotripsie an der Wiener Klinik ein. Seine Erfahrungen faßte er in vorliegender Schrift zusammen "und bestimmte in ihr in kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit den Ergebnissen Civiales, Leroys und Heurteloups noch für die spätere Zeit in gültiger Weise die Gegenanzeigen der neuen Methode ebenso wie die Anzeigen zum Blasenschnitt" (E. Wattmann hat 1827 "trotz Ablehnung durch seinen Lehrer Kern an der Wiener Klinik das französische Verfahren der Lithotripsie eingeführt. Das Heft enthält u. a. mehrere Arbeiten von Eduard von Graefe, darunter ein "Beitrag zur künstlichen Pupillenbildung". - Gleichmäßige Bräunung, gutes Exemplar.
